Internal Funding

We co-ordinate numerous internal funding programs designed to support research and reward research excellence by university faculty.

Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC)―the university receives funds from the SSHRC Institutional Grant program to support research activities being conducted by full-time faculty members that enhance research capacity in the social sciences. The program is also funded through the SSHRC General Research Fund.

Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) General Research Fund (GRF)―the NSERC GRF is used to re-invest NSERC funds unspent in previous years with the university allocating matching funds from the GRF to support recipients of NSERC Discovery Development Grants (DDG), a pilot program complementary to the Discovery Program. The university provides a $5,000 match to DDG recipients.

The Office of the Vice-President Research, Innovation and International co-ordinates a number of internal funding programs designed to support research by University of Ontario Institute of Technology faculty, and reward research excellence.
