Internal faculty funding

The Office of the Vice-President Research, Innovation and International co-ordinates a number of internal funding programs designed to support research by UOIT faculty, and reward research excellence.

Research Excellence Award
This award recognizes excellence in research achieved by UOIT faculty. Two Research Excellence Awards are presented annually.

SSHRC Small Research Grants
UOIT receives funds from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) Institutional Grant program to support research activities by UOIT full-time faculty members that enhance research capacity in the social sciences.

UOIT-MEDI Post Doctoral Fellowship
This program, jointly funded by UOIT and the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development and Innovation, provides support for a Post Doctoral Fellow (PDF) to conduct research activities under the supervision of a UOIT faculty member as the fellow prepares for a full-time academic or research career.

FedDev Ontario
UOIT has received grants from the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario) as part of the Applied Research and Commercialization Initiative.

Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships
As the most prestigious postdoctoral award in Canada, the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships Program provides the opportunity to bring top talent to the research community at UOIT.  Fellowships are awarded to the very best postdoctoral researchers, both nationally and internationally, who will positively contribute to Canada's economic, social and research-based growth.
